About
Somekind™ is an award-winning community-focused Australian micropublisher founded by Vaughan Mossop and Simon Davis during the initial coronavirus lockdown.
Our flagship food and drink series, Takeaway, works to profit share and has so far returned over $500,000 to independent businesses across Australia, Los Angeles and Tokyo. The series’ success in engaging its global hospitality-loving community and demonstrating that a different way of publishing is possible has led to Somekind being honoured by Australian publication Gourmet Traveller and included as 1 of 25 Game Changers by Food & Wine Magazine in the US, as well as being recognised for its design excellence by the Australian Book Designer’s Association who awarded it ‘Best Designed Series of 2021’.
Other books and series published by Somekind include New Voices on Food, an anthology of works celebrating the diversity of voices to be found within the Australian food landscape, ROAR, a collection of narrative shorts from some of Australia’s most exciting writing talent (including the award-winning Echoes by Shu-Ling Chua) and the art series Twenty by Four, curated by Archibald Prize finalist Melissa Grisancich.
